Company Introduction:
Temco Controls Ltd. is a manufacturer of low cost control systems and end devices for Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) applications. We got our start back in 1969 as the RobertShaw dealer for the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Later in the early 80’s as one of the early promoters of DDC systems, we made a name for ourselves in the industry as the Master Distributor for a DDC system manufactured by a local company called Reliable Controls. We had good success in the marketplace for 10+ years with the product and directly installed many hundreds of projects as well as built up the dealer network for Reliable Controls. Later we built our own ‘T3000’ DDC system which launched in 1995. It offers a full-featured, freely programmable solution for buildings or groups of buildings of any size, with ease of use and low cost as its strong points
Contract Manufacturing Design Services
In 1997, due to the large amount of work we had going on in Asia we moved the operation to Shanghai China. There we focused our efforts on contract manufacturing of the HVAC end devices, doing work for some famous brand names such as Belimo, Carrier, and Siemen’s as well as many lesser known companies. We have experience in both the design and the installation of Building Automation Systems, our team of engineers can assist OEM’s in applying existing products or designing new ones to your specifications. We’ll use our existing product line as a starting point and customize it to your application. Thanks to our low overhead and good base of existing technology the engineering work can often be absorbed as part of the first small order. We can quote longer-term development projects according to your specifications, and we always provide full source code and IP rights.
The People Behind Temco:
Maurice Duteau, the owner and Managing Director of Temco Controls, graduated from the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of British Columbia in 1984. Has extensive experience in the industry
-Two years as Energy Conservation Engineer for the New York State Energy Advisory.
-Over ten years in the controls contracting business: bidding, programming and commissioning projects.
-Took over the Temco helm from the founder Ron Hackett in 1995.
-Over ten years of electronics design, development and manufacturing
Shirley Gu is the production manager, she has rich experience in the electronics manufacturing industry and works closely with our local Shanghai subcontractors on everything from plastic injected parts, stamped metal, cast metal, cables & harnesses, keypad assemblies, and especially electronics sourcing & assembly. The engineering staff is currently at 15 people, our electrical and software engineers are ready to assist with applying existing products or develop new ones.
We currently have 15 production staff, which is small considering our sales volumes.This is due to the fact that on the larger OEM projects we subcontract much of the production to our subcontractors in and around Shanghai. The goods arrive at Temco’s facility and our production staff will take over: we do all final assembly, testing, Q.C. inspection, and packing in house. We’ll also do the smaller volume projects and prototypes in house.
